Brilliant! McRae puts the perfect bow on his ‘Black Breath Trilogy’ with this latest installment, ‘Vendetta’. He continues with vivid characters that you can relate to and the parade of plot twists continue in abundance. If Hollywood doesn’t pick up these plots for a movie, they are looking in all the wrong places. McRae packs enough material in his trilogy to easily support a mini-series, let alone a movie. Very well done! I only hope there will be another installment to this series.

“Vendetta was a suspenseful continuation of the characters from Frank McRae’s first two novels (Premonition and Vengeance). Just when I thought I had it figured out, there was a twist or turn of events that made me want to keep flipping more pages. The end of this book is especially shocking . . . . I never saw it coming, and it showed tremendous creativity by this author to be able to continue once again . . . to novel #4!”

I am an avid reader and when I find a good author I will read all he or she wrote. In Frank McRae, I have found a new author to follow. His first three books were exciting from page one to the end and kept me guessing. Love the little touches of the paranormal. Each book was better than the last one. I am looking forward to reading more of his novels.

I thoroughly enjoyed the final book of the Black Breath Trilogy “Vendetta”.
I could not wait to find out the demise of this diabolical murderer. From the first book “Premonitions” to the last, Frank weaves an intricate plot with many twists and surprises that do not disappoint. I would highly recommend all three of these somewhat unusual mysteries with a flair of the supernatural.

I found “Vendetta” just as compelling as Frank’s first two books. He is a great storyteller and I think he will go far. I read a lot of Patterson’s books and others that are similar. Frank has a gift for storytelling that is comparable with the best. My husband Bob read the first 2 books and agrees with me. He hasn’t started Vendetta yet.

I truly enjoyed reading your first book. Premonitions. I really appreciate the James Patterson format of short chapters and quick scene changes. Needless to say, when the universe turned and turned again, I was surprised! That was really fun. As a lover of familiar (and obscure) quotations, I loved the quotes at the beginning of the chapters. Seriously, the book moved methodically along to the inevitable conclusion with the only real surprises being everything from page 2 to page 297!
Marie Thompson – Davenport, FL
I just finished your book Premonitions and I have to tell you I never read a
murder mystery like it. Actually, I never read a murder mystery period. I watch a lot of TV “whodunnits” and this book held me captive from the minute I started to read it. It was unlike anything I ever experienced in a book, on TV or a movie. The plot will keep you guessing and you won’t be able to put it down. I couldn’t. Can’t wait to read more from this author.

What a GREAT book!! Good writing filled with mystery, suspense, and intrigue!! I read both books from beginning to end and could not put them down. If this is his first novel, I can’t wait to read future novels. Meantime, I can get my work done, instead of reading. Good work, Frank, I hope this book gets in the right hands for a film!!!!!!!!

Frank McRae has already published two incredible murder mysteries and is currently working on his third, which will make a “trilogy” of books connected to each other. Believe me when I say this novel has mind-boggling plot twists that will wow every reader! I simply could not put it down and the ending will shock you.
Frank McRae has certainly engaged close attention to details and has a knack for developing unexpected plot twists to keep readers glued to every page. I am personally thrilled to have met this author (and his lovely wife) and honored to have two autographed copies of these books.
Personally, I give the first one FIVE STARS! And all I can say is, “Frank, hurry up and get that third one written! You certainly have talent!!”
Allie Wells – Schaumburg, IL
Expect the unexpected! Premonitions is an edge of your seat, heart-pounding
mystery about the investigation of unexplained murders in a suburb of Chicago. In a brilliant debut, McRae takes his readers on a thrilling journey that follows the investigation of several systematic murders and the authorities who try to weave together a set of seemingly unrelated clues. McRae uses plot twists, dynamic setting, attention to detail, and depth of characters to engage his audience. This truly is a page-turner!

Sometimes it is hard to write reviews on really good books. Why? Because I want to just keep writing all about the characters, locations, plots, etc. – but I always have to stop myself so I don’t give away the story! But I do need to share my thought from both ‘Premonitions’ and ‘Vengeance’.
‘Premonitions’ – I absolutely loved how you slowly revealed “who done it” but WAIT …you threw in a twist! No, how can that be – I just read thru a couple of chapters that did the slow unmasking of the killer! I didn’t see this twist building – but all of a sudden there was this door and so much more was revealed! WOW – completely caught me off guard! The next thing I knew – alas the book was done. All I could think was – it couldn’t be done. I have so many questions that weren’t answered – I need to contact the main characters to find out why, who, when. “It’s only a book” sure did not apply – I felt as if I was watching this unfold right before me…..
Then I started reading ‘Vengeance’. Whew, thank you. The 2nd book picked up where ‘Premonitions’ left off. OK a couple of the questions have been answered – but you did it again Frank – you put in more twists. You created confusion and started my mind asking the unanswerable questions again. Oh my goodness …. I need to finish this one, then I will be back. I’ll be back (impatiently) awaiting the 3rd in the trilogy.
I love the writing style – but what is making me “live the stories” is all the familiar towns, locations, schools – having grown up there is helping me ‘see’ everything in my mind’s eye.
P. V. Marshalek – Bolingbrook, IL
The author keeps you reading and has a flair for holding your interest along a path where only few could see the twists ahead. The story is well thought out, characters are truly twisted and the world of successful surgeons emerges as told like never before. There are some humorous characters along with the serious, which help make this story more than real and compelling. I look forward to a second installment from this author and highly recommend this book. If you enjoy a good mystery, this one will not disappoint.
Izabela Belczowska – Streamwood, IL
Great book! This book took me on a suspenseful, roller coaster ride that I couldn’t get off until the book was finished. I would highly recommend it.
Kim Roster Penny – Lake Zurich, IL
I finished the book last week … WOW — what a fun ride! Thank you for hours of escape, intrigue, and adventure. I can totally see this playing out as a big-screen movie!! Thoroughly enjoyed “the voice” of the killer’s inner thoughts throughout the book … well done! As with everyone else, I look forward to the sequel! 😉
Jim Stevens – Yorkville, IL
Excellent book. It grabbed my attention from the start and was very hard to put down. I read it in two sittings only because I had previous commitments, otherwise, I would have finished it the first day. The storyline was great, and the ending was unexpected. I recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of mysteries.
Jane Pawlak – Macks Creek, MO
Just finished your book — it was full of suspense and surprises. You are right up there with John Grisham and Dean Koontz. I have been promoting the book for you. Good luck with the next one.
Julie Unger – Lockport, IL
This book is amazing! It keeps your interest going with each chapter! It makes you want to keep reading and not put the book down!
Jennifer Ries – Streamwood, IL
This is one of the best books I have read in a very long time. It has a little bit of everything. Plenty of twists and turns and content. Let alone hold on for the ending. It will take you by surprise. The cover says it all. Expect the unexpected . .
Linda Bellows – Oakbrook Terrace, IL
Frank, I LOVED your book, wild twist at the end that I never saw coming! Marni gave it to me on Xmas. I was in the middle of an Alex Cross book. I started your book on Saturday and couldn’t put it down. Finished it Sunday. Cannot wait to read your next one!
Christine Nowland – Antioch, IL
Can I just say, “Loved it!” I finished the book while we were in Mexico. Thanks for giving me hours of suspense, confusion, anxiousness . . . LOL!
Marni Chiero – Roselle, IL
Great book! I got it for Christmas and wasn’t able to put it down. Can’t wait for the next one.
Jan A. Lynn – Chicago, IL
Mr. McRae has developed a wonderful story with twists, intrigue, and surprises. I could not put it down and it kept me guessing.
Edna Crawford – Jacksonville, IL
I read mysteries all the time. This is a very good one, surprises right to the very end. Can’t wait for his next one.
Five Stars! Loved the first book and think Vengeance is even better. Can not wait for the 3rd one.
Tom Tillson – Clermont, FL
I read Vengeance when it first came out and couldn’t put it down which is going some for me. The book continues where Frank McRae’s first book ‘Premonitions’ left off. As a thriller, this book will definitely leave the reader wanting more. The plot is awesome and the twists and turns in the story will also keep you guessing as to where the book is taking you. I was completely blown away by the ending and thought wow. Great writing by a great up and coming author. Can’t wait to see what the next book brings.
